Kyle Halverson fires two goals, South Portland High School Varsity puts the squeeze on shooters to edge out their opponents, breaks streak of losses

Kyle Halverson netted the game-winning goal with 2:35 left in the first period, as South Portland High School Varsity handed a loss to Westbrook High School 4 - 3 at Portland Ice Arena on Saturday. South Portland High School Varsity racked up one unanswered goal to jump in to the lead in the first period. In the second period, South Portland High School Varsity scored three goals to Westbrook High School's one and kept the lead. Westbrook High School scored two consecutive goals in the third period but it was not enough to close the gap, so they lost the game.

South Portland High School Varsity's Kyle Halverson made two goals for South Portland High School Varsity. Coming through for South Portland High School Varsity, Halverson put the puck in the net without assistance in the first period. This cemented South Portland High School Varsity's win. South Portland High School Varsity fired up their game when Halverson got an unassisted goal in the second period. Connor Nadeau and Andrew Whipple each tallied one goal for South Portland High School Varsity.

South Portland High School Varsity's Shannon Tully blocked 17 out of 20 shots on goal for the win. Westbrook High School's Goalie Player had 11 saves.

South Portland High School Varsity ended their losing streak of eight games and now has a record of 1-8.
